    SERVICES OFFERED

    • Dialysis

Based on the principal of 'Patient centered management’, the Dialysis unit at Burjeel Hospital focuses on patients with diabetes mellitus and renal failure. Special protocols are in place for patients with poor cardiac function as well.

    • Hemodialysis

Within this unit, all patients are treated using internationally accepted standard precautions. There is no exclusion criterion on the basis of infectious diseases. Biocompatible membrane-based dialyzers are routinely used with volumetric ultra-filtration. Also, all water is purified using reverse osmosis. In addition to this, fully computerized bicarbonate hemodialysis machines with volumetric ultra-filtration and adjustable sodium facility, provide better patient safety profile.

R.O. (Reverse osmosis) water for dialysis not just ensures patient safety; it also prevents long-term complications on hemodialysis. The latest dialysis machines used at Burjeel Hospital include various sensors, meters gauges, monitors, blood leak detectors, computerized apparatus detection systems, various modules measures details & data when dialysis is in progress.

Using highly sophisticated monitors, a patient can be continuously monitored throughout the dialysis procedure.

    • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy

Burjeel Hospital is one of the few centers in UAE to provide highly sophisticated dialysis for critically ill patients in ICU / CCU with multi-organ failure, where peritoneal or routine hemodialysis are not possible for various reasons.

    • Plasmapheresis and Plasma Exchange

These faculties of Plasmapheresis and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) are available for renal and non-renal patients such as GB syndrome and myasthenia gravis. Various diseases like Goodpasture's syndrome, Hemolytic Uremic syndrome, TTP, cryoglobulinemia, RPGN (SLE, ANCA-related) can be treated with Plasmapheresis.

    • Peritoneal Dialysis

The aim of the peritoneal dialysis service is to support patients carrying out their peritoneal dialysis at home. This can be continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) or automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) by machine.

    • Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis

Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) is the instance where a thin tube called a catheter is surgically implanted into the abdominal wall.

Patients who choose this form of treatment will receive proper training from a CAPD nurse to drain waste matter. Needless to say, the Renal Unit staff is always available when needed.
